Welcome, sweet ones.
Please don’t make me drink alone! Go grab your glass and pick a drink of your choice. Tonight I’m going red — Dolcemente semi-sweet red, to be exact. Nothing too fancy, I just recently got into wine, so if you have any recommendations, please send them my way. Red, white, or something non-alcoholic — if you love it, I want to try it. Anywhoo… let’s get into this table talk. What is it? Who am I? Why are you here and where are we going? I got you honeybuns.
Pour a Glass is my little corner to slow down and take time to prioritize myself while also sharing life with you — the kitchen wins and fails, tiny motherhood moments, what it’s like to grow as a woman, and the quiet faith that holds us together. This is where we pause the world for a minute to connect and just exist. Outside of being mom, wife, daughter, sister. you get to be you. Leave a comment telling me your name and who you are outside of those other titles. For example, Who am I?
My name is Destiny but I like to go by LD, It’s a nickname given to me by a dear friend, who helped me through a mental shift. If you ever need a dear friend to help you through a mental shift, or someone to listen, I can be that friend<3 I am a mother of a two-year-old boy. I’m a stay-at-home momma and someone who is learning a new way of living. I created The Foraged Elk for anyone and everyone. I may connect with my ladies and mommas a little deeper especially through the Pour a Glass series, this series was made for you ladies, men feel free to stay at your own discretion. (Don’t worry we’ll have a series for the men coming too) But this space belongs to all of us. Especially if you hunt, love game meat, want new recipes, or simply want to learn how to cook from scratch. Oh and no worries I won’t just use game meat, most of my recipes can be swapped with whatever meat you prefer. So don’t be afraid to stay if you plan on grocery store ingredients only, you’re welcome here too.
At The Foraged Elk we’ll learn how to: Make different forms of sourdough and maintain a sourdough starter. My starter is named Al Dough. We’ll also break down the different sections of a deer when butchering otherwise known as quartering out a deer. I’ll show you ladies a variation of recipes, ranging from cozy dinners, quick lunches, and meals for the kiddos. Honestly who knows where else the wind will take us. Whatever I learn along the way I plan to share with you. It’s so hard to find reliable information now with fake news, and artificial intelligence may be able to give you a fact but it’s not able to give you an 80 year old Nonna experience.(neither can I yet ) But ill strive to gain knowledge and experience and give you the best of it. Through The Foraged Elk socials, and through our Blogs, it will most likely be under a different category than our Pour a Glass sessions though.
These nights — the Pour a Glass: Table Talk nights — are for unwinding, connecting, and choosing yourself. I want all my sweet ones to curl up somewhere cozy with a drink and feel welcome. I’m not going to be a picture-perfect creator. You’ll see my failures, my trials, and we’ll learn together no matter how long it takes. One of the motto’s of The Foraged Elk is slow-paced living. Everything today is fast and convenient, but in all of that convenience, we lose connection. My goal is to build a tribe full of supportive, loving, kind, individuals.
This series is one little step back towards that. With that being said I will end on this good note. I hope you feel welcome here. You are loved. You are wanted and you are seen!
Thank you for sitting with me tonight.
Pour yourself a little more if you need it.
Slow down. Breathe, and Praise God.
I’ll save a seat at the next table.
LD
